Jacques Cartier--The French Explorer

Jacques Cartier looks strong and old. I think he might always thought a lot of ruses during his trip to other countries and has many experience about leadership. Maybe everybody listening and flowing him.

His eyes have the gream of mature. It's very deep and thoughful. He is the man that always looking at venture and even death.
2. Post 10 facts about Jacques Cartier

·Jacques Cartier was born in St. Malo (France) in 1491. Not much is known of his life before 1534, when he departed on his first voyage.
·He was looking for a passage through or around North America to East Asia, as some had done before him, and many would after him.
·Jacques Cartier was a sea captain born int. Malo, France in 1491
·He was the first European to map, travel and attempt to establish a settlement in the northern St. Lawrence area
·Cartier's exploration was the base for France's claim to Canada
·For several years he voyages for discovery from Europe to America ceased.
·In 1541, his third expedition was put together to help Jean Roberval found a colony in Canada.
·Cartier never found the Northwest Passage, but his explorations served as a basis for the French claims in the rich St. Lawrence Valley and led to many future expeditions by France to Canada.
·His Major Accomplishment was discovered the St. Lawrence River.

·Some historians believe Cartier accompanied Giovanni de Verrazano on French expeditions to the New World.

Because he discovered the ST. Lawrence River.

He sent to Canada in 1534. Frence sent him to there.

7. First Nations people were the original people who lived in Canada before the Europeans came. Imagine how you would feel seeing the Europeans for the first time. What would you think? What would you say? What would you do?






When I saw them in the video at the first time, I felt they were so shame. They wear nothing and didin't know how to talk to peopie and what the world looks like. Maybe I would bring something from the world outside and tell him about the life that they never seen. I would make friends with them.

9. What happened to Donnaconna?

Donnaconna was the chief of the native people. He was very angry when Jacques Cartier who came from French built a cross on their land. Then he was asked to go to French by Jacques Cartier. Then, he never went back to India.



10. How would you feel if you were Donnaconna or the Iroquois people? Would you be friends with the French after this experience?
I would feel vrey annoyed with Jacques Cartier and his men if I am the Iroquois people. Because they were so overbearing to take anything they want, but don't care other people's feeling. It's unfair for us. I would not be friends with the French afer this experience.
